Spencer Farrell is an interdisciplinary studio artist primarily working with lens-based media, both in still and moving image variants. Their work is driven by their relationship with themselves, and the environment around them; and blends narrative and documentary, resulting in an experimental meditation of daily human life and space. An attempt is made to walk the line between participant and an observer in a given space; allowing intuition and curiosity to guide the exploration and capture process. The artist is drawn to the multiplicities of environments in a given space; their many harmonies, contradictions, and stories as they shift and change continuously. The use of analog processes helps ground the work, bringing a physicality and presence with the moment both during and after capture.
